Hashim Muhammad is currently incarcerated at the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside, California, and is facing a series of life-threatening health and legal challenges. On September 21, 2025, while working as an unarmed security guard, Hashim was threatened by a man who claimed to have a gun and used racial slurs. Fearing for his life, Hashim reacted to protect himself, but he was the one who ended up being arrested. During this traumatic incident, Hashim suffered a heart attack and required emergency surgery.

Afterward, his employer delayed his workers' compensation claim and accused him of misconduct, which led to a warrant being issued without his knowledge. Hashim was later arrested on that warrant and, while in custody, suffered a stroke and another heart attack. Despite being hospitalized, he missed court dates he didn't know about and was penalized for it. In March 2026, while still seriously ill, Hashim was hospitalized again while fully restrained. During that time, he experienced excessive force from a deputy, including being grabbed by the throat and pushed to the ground while not resisting. He was also questioned about his religion and made to feel discriminated against for being Muslim.

Hashim is now dealing with ongoing medical issues, including heart damage, stroke recovery, hernias, and back injuries, along with the stress of fighting what he believes is a wrongful legal situation.
