My name is Mahdiya Erfani, and I am reaching out to you today with a heartfelt plea to support a cause that is deeply personal and urgent. I am organizing a fundraising campaign on behalf of Hasan, an 11-year-old boy from Afghanistan, the beloved son of Ali Reza, who has been bravely battling a serious neurological condition for several years.
Hasan’s medical journey has been difficult and heartbreaking. Years ago, he was rushed to the hospital after experiencing a frightening episode characterized by tonic-clonic convulsions, sudden loss of consciousness, urinary incontinence, excessive oral secretions, and prolonged postictal drowsiness. These episodes were not isolated—his family recalls numerous incidents over the years where Hasan collapsed unexpectedly, injuring himself and terrifying those around him. Following a thorough evaluation, doctors diagnosed him with epilepsy, likely caused by a traumatic head injury he sustained earlier in life.
Since then, Hasan’s seizures have grown more frequent and debilitating. His condition now requires specialized neurological assessments and surgery to control the seizures and prevent further neurological damage. Unfortunately, such advanced medical care is not available in Afghanistan. His prognosis worsens with age, and doctors have advised that surgical intervention be pursued as soon as possible to offer the best outcome.
Tragically, Hasan’s family is unable to afford the medical care he desperately needs. His father, Ali Reza, is the sole breadwinner for their family of six. Amidst the ongoing economic and humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, he struggles to secure even a basic daily wage through irregular manual labor. With no stable income and limited access to healthcare, the cost of Hasan’s medication, diagnostic procedures, travel, and surgery are simply beyond their reach.
This is why I am turning to you with an appeal for compassion and solidarity. Your contribution—no matter the amount—can directly fund Hasan’s medical journey: the critical neurological assessments, travel to a specialized facility, and the surgery that could dramatically change his life.
Your kindness and generosity could offer this young boy a future filled not with fear and uncertainty, but with hope and possibility. Hasan dreams of going to school like other children, of growing up without the constant threat of seizures that steal his consciousness and endanger his life.
Please consider supporting Hasan’s medical fund. Your help will not only ease the financial burden on his family—it may be the very lifeline that saves his future.
From the depths of our hearts, we thank you for your empathy and your support.
With deepest gratitude,
Mahdiya Erfani
