I’m writing on behalf of my dear relative, Hasan, who is currently going through a challenging time.

Hasan has been living with Stage 4 ALK+ lung cancer for eight years, which he has faced with courage, optimism, and determination. Over the years, he’s been through whole brain radiation, two additional rounds of brain radiation, and multiple treatments. After his first oral chemotherapy stopped working last year, he joined a clinical trial at Johns Hopkins.

Recently, scans showed that one of his brain tumors is growing and causing significant swelling. Since radiation is no longer an option, his doctors have recommended brain surgery to remove the tumor. The surgery must happen within the next two weeks to prevent further swelling that will cause complications.

This urgent medical need comes at a particularly challenging financial time. Johns Hopkins is no longer accepting this health insurance due to contract issues, and although he has applied for continuity of care, he is still awaiting approval. On top of that, Hasan works as a consultant and will have to step away from work — and lose his job — in order to have the surgery and take 3–4 weeks for recovery.

We are raising funds to help cover medical costs, living expenses, and give his family the ability to focus fully on Hasan’s healing.
