A video of me during a visit to his destroyed house in Khan Younis, captured by an Al Jazeera TV correspondent
Hello there,
My name is Hasan. And I am launching this campaign with help of Mason Hakes as a last resort to rescue my family.
About us:
My family consists of 13 members, 11 of whom are adults. I am the house's owner and, thus, the only one responsible for the expenses. During the very beginning of the war, I lost the place where I used to work. This, indeed, made things more challenging as everything was destroyed. Ten days after losing my work, I lost my home.
Nothing could be more painful than losing your home, the memories therein, and everything you have worked hard to build.
Now, we are living in a tent. Needless to say, no one can find a good life here in this tent, even if his loved ones surround him.
Our home prior to the Israeli war on Gaza
Our home after the war
It is also worth mentioning that my current health situation is critical. I underwent a surgical operation two months before the vicious war. This doesn't allow me to pay for two university students any longer as I will not be able to find another job at least until the war ends.
Besides, no one can easily find a job or any means of a good life in these deadly, dire circumstances.
My wife is suffering from diabetes. Hardly anyone can get the treatments they need, particularly during and even after this war.
Moreover, both of my children lost their chances of pursuing their education. My daughter was supposed to be a senior this year, and my youngest son is in his second year. This war forced them to stop dreaming after many years of digging hard in the rocks. They have always dreamed of being the cream of society. Yet, this injustice we now face forces us to see our dreams going with the wind. And now, we dream of surviving this ferocious war and traveling abroad to rebuild our lives and dreams again.
To secure an exit through the Rafah border, each family member has to pay around $5k to the Hala Travel Company to facilitate their exit to Egypt (and $2.5k for children under the age of 16). The people these funds will help evacuate are my wife, two sons, two daughters, one grandchild, one daughter-in-law, a brother, a sister-in-law, two nephews, and one niece.
The total to evacuate and support all my family is a minimum of USD 66,400. The breakdown of costs that your generosity would help to pay for is as follows:
$5,300 USD per adult x 11 = USD $58,300
$2,800 USD per child x 2 = USD $5,600
Go Fund Me transfer fees (approximately) = USD $2,500
Total = USD $66,400
I humbly seek your financial support to facilitate our evacuation from Gaza. We deserve the right to live in safety and peace. And if the war is put to an end or the evacuation becomes impossible for some or all family members for any reason, all your funds will go to rebuild my home.
Please donate and share the campaign with your network. Words cannot express how grateful I am for all your support. I will keep you updated about my family’s situation.
With all my deepest gratitude,
Hasan
