Help Harvey’s congestive heart & multiple myeloma

Hello, my name is Harvey Newell. I have recently been diagnosed with a rare disease called multiple myeloma, and also amyloids that are causing congestive heart failure. Tonight, I have learned I will be life-flighted down to Palo Alto, California for the 2nd time in one month to have Stanford University and the VA down there help me get through my five more months of chemo so I will be able to hopefully be a good fit for a donor heart. unfortunately, not everything is paid for like household bills, plane, tickets, gasoline for the car and all the other daily needs for food and expenses.

My family is everything to me, and that is why I’m trying so hard to do everything possible to continue living and being able to share a life with them. I am the sole provider for my family, and with this illness, I am not able to provide at all for them. With the move down to California, I don’t know how I’m going to make it without somebody’s help.

I am asking for help so I can have the bills paid while I’m gone and hopefully get our flooring fixed in our house because it is unstable for me to walk around.

I am a US Air Force veteran, and my family is my life—my wife of 35 years and my three children, ages 17 to 44 years. I would love to stay in this world as long and healthy as possible. I am the sole provider for my family and the owner of Newell Trucking, a small dump trucking business.

Anything anybody can do to help us would be greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, all this is really putting a burden on my finances. I wouldn’t ask for anything, but I’m in dire straits and could use any help I can receive. Asking for anything is probably one of the hardest things I can do, but at this time and place in my life, I am pretty much forced to rely on the love and compassion of the people in Portland, Oregon, the community of truckers that I roll with every day, and of course, the US VA.
