Help Harvard Taekwondo reach Nationals
Donation protected
We are the Harvard Taekwondo Club, a club sport team at Harvard University that competes in the Eastern Collegiate Taekwondo Conference (ECTC) and National Collegiate Taekwondo Association (NCTA). This semester, we plan to compete at the 3v3 format ECTC tournament at the University of Vermont (March 30) and NCTA Collegiate Nationals (held in Marlborough, MA, April 11-13). This will be the first time in four years that Harvard Taekwondo will compete at NCTA Nationals!
In the past year, HTKD has made multiple placings in 3v3 ECTC tournaments: PC1 (C team poomsae) won a bronze medal at the UVM tournament last year, our Men's A sparring team placed 5th at MIT, halting in a very close match, along with many quarterfinal finishes. Our former captain, Matthew Tan, was recognized as an ECTC All-Star member, as one of 8 sparring athletes selected by the ECTC board for competitive excellence and commitment to ECTC. In preparation for these tournaments, many members are training hard in HTKD poomsae and sparring workouts led by Coach Kathy Chuang, Master Jang, and John Lim, as well as t.BOS sparring competition team workouts (comprised of athletes from area TKD colleges) led by Master Dan Chuang. We have been limited in advancing in 3v3 format ECTC tournaments due to having a smaller team, but we are excited to compete at the collegiate national stage and are hopeful to bring home medals to add to HTKD's accolades!
As an entirely student-run group, we need your support to make this happen. Given the limited availability of Harvard Undergraduate Association and Harvard Club Sports funding ($400 + $1000 for a school year) which is used entirely to cover general club expenses, any donations would be greatly appreciated. We are aiming to raise $2000 to cover car rental costs, tournament registration fees, and other travel expenses for this semester’s tournaments (UVM and Nationals). Attending NCTA Nationals is a dream for many of us HTKD-ers, so any contribution, no matter the size, would mean so much to us. Thank you!
For reference, your gift will cover:
$45: one athlete’s registration fees for one ECTC tournament
$140: one athlete’s registration fees for NCTA Nationals
$400: the club’s average travel cost for one tournament (car rental and gas)
$600: the club’s average lodging cost for one night (Airbnb): for further tournaments Princeton and Cornell
