Help Harry Regain His Independence
Donation protected
Aloha, my name is T.J. , and I’m raising funds to help my 61-year-old brother Harry recover after an e-bike accident in Wahiawa, Hawai‘i.
On February 17, 2025, while riding his e-bike along Wilikina Drive near Mendonca Park, my brother hit a pothole at the entrance of the driveway to a housing complex. Due to the poorly maintained area, he lost control and crashed onto the sidewalk. He suffered a mild concussion, required 8 stitches above his right eye, and was transported by ambulance to Queen's Hospital in Wahiawa for treatment.
My brother is disabled due to a prior work injury and relies on a cane when walking. His e-bike was more than transportation — it was his only form of exercise, independence, and freedom. It took him three years to save for it, relying solely on his $1,300 monthly Social Security Disability income (he pays $650 a month for rent).
The crash severely damaged his bike. While repairs would cost around $1,800, we've learned that a new, reliable e-bike plus shipping to Hawai‘i will cost about $4,200 — a safer and longer-lasting option. In addition to the bike, he also needs essential safety and functional gear to get back on the road safely.
We're raising $4,799 to cover:
• New e-bike + shipping to Hawai‘i – $4,200
• High-quality helmet (with MIPS & lights) – $299
• Safety lights, mirrors, lock & gear – $150
• Rear basket or rack for groceries – $150
If you can contribute — no matter the amount — your support will help restore his mobility, confidence, and daily independence. If you’re unable to give right now, please consider sharing this campaign to help us reach others.
Mahalo for your kindness, generosity, and support.
