Help Harry & Jake Buy a New Bicycle

I am reaching out to all my friends and family to help out a good man and his dog. On the night of October 12 or early morning October 13, my friend Harry's three-wheeled, custom bicycle was stolen from out in front of his apartment complex. The bike was double-locked, but the thief used bolt cutters to take Harry's only form of transportation (other than me). The Mountain View Police do not expect to recover the bicycle, so Harry needs to purchase a new one - similar to the one that was stolen. He needs a custom bike so his service dog/companion animal, Jake, can ride with him (safely tied down in the rear basket) and with other components (e.g., lights, flags, etc.) that allow him to be safe on the roads. The bike itself, fully-loaded, will be around $1,000 - any extra raised beyond that will go to help Harry recover the costs he just spent to have the bike repaired after a hit-and-run accident (a couple of months ago).
Some of you know that when I met Harry about 12+ years ago, he was homeless and living in a tent under the overpass at Shoreline Road in Mountain View. He had been homeless for many years when I met him - his two dogs at the time, Sandy and Buffy, were what drew me to him initially. But as I gained his trust, I realized that Harry was a good man - not a drug user or alcohol abuser - just someone down on his luck for most of his life. He never learned to read or write, and so trusting "the system" was difficult if not impossible for him. I've been through a lot with Harry over the years - I've had to help him put 3 dogs to sleep (due to old age and other ailments), he's been hospitalized twice, he had to find new housing when the motel he was living in closed, and just the general struggles of life. About three years ago, JoJo and I moved him into his current apartment, I got him on Social Security to help pay for rent and essentials, and signed him up for Medicare (he has a not-so-great heart and diabetes). The funds raised through this campaign will really make a difference for Harry - 100% of the money raised will go directly to him and Jake.
