Hi!
My name is Harry Hodister, and I recently graduated 8th Grade at West Middle School in Rochester Hills, MI.
This spring, I found out I have beaten hundreds of worldwide applicants to win a coveted place to study Theatre Performance, at the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan. I am due to begin my High School studies in the Fall 2019 term as a boarding student.
Theatre has been my passion since I joined the wonderful local Peanut Gallery Players, when I was in 5th Grade at University Hills Elementary. I have performed with them numerous times, as well as acting in shows at Deborah's Stage Door and Avon Players. I also recently played Peter Cratchit in Meadow Brook Theatre's, 'A Christmas Carol' - my first professional role!
My family and I are literally blown away that I've been given this amazing opportunity to further my acting and academic studies at Interlochen.
Interlochen alumni go on to prestigious careers in the arts, cultural, service and business sectors. Many have made significant contributions to their fields and achieved exceptional success. Some alumni you may have heard of are, Norah Jones, Josh Groben, Ed Helms, as well as Larry Page, the Founder of Google.
According to my offer letter, I was selected from a highly talented group of applicants. "We were impressed with your artistic achievements, talents and experiences. Your commitment to personal and artistic excelllence is of exceptional quality, and your acceptance is testament to your hard work and passion."
I cannot wait to join the Interlochen Arts community and thrive in their academic and artistic environment and do my Rochester Hills community proud. This really is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me and my dreams of becoming an actor.
However, this is an expensive fee paying school. I am lucky to have been awarded a merit scholarship, which helps with part of the fees, but I am hoping to raise additional funds to help my family (of six) pay my tuition, the computer I need, books and living expenses.
My family has a strong work ethic, and I am working hard cutting grass, pulling weeds and babysitting as much as I can, to raise as much tuition funds as possible, this summer. To help with some of the rest of the costs, I've created a GoFundMe.
