Help Harry beat Hodgkins Lymphoma

Below is the start of Harry's story. I say the start because it is going to be a long, hard slog to get through this for our ever optimistic and positive 9 year old nephew. While Harry is receiving treatment his family (Gordon Doughty, Lisa Duffy and Simon Presutti) need our help financially to continue to be by his side while maintaining as much normality as possible for his two sisters.

On August 18th we received a phone call that completely turned our world upside down. After an MRI to investigate a mysterious lump on our beautiful Harry’s neck, we were told to take him straight to the hospital as they suspect he has lymphoma.

By Sunday the 20th we left Albury Hospital and headed down to the Royal Children’s, where over the next week Harry underwent surgery to get a biopsy from his neck and a number of scans.

The Oncology team prepared us for what they suspected the diagnosis to be and by Friday the 25th we received an official diagnosis - Harry has Hodgkins Lymphoma.

We have been reassured that with 6 months of chemotherapy the Hodgkins should be all but gone and it is this tiny positive that is getting us through this extremely difficult and emotional time.

Harry started his first round of chemo on Tuesday August 29th and faced each day with so much strength and resilience

We were lucky enough to come home on Saturday after treatment. Harry was so excited to see his family and even got to see his friends at school for a few hours today

We are still very much trying to process Harry’s diagnosis and what the next 6 months will entail for this amazing young man.

We are so fortunate to have the best support from our amazing families and friends, as well as the incredible Oncology team at the Royal Children’s. Harry is extremely appreciative of everyone’s well wishes, as are we.
