Help Harrison Get Braces – Support for Our Small Family
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Laura. I’m a single mom doing this largely on my own, and my two kids—Harrison and Eveline—both need orthodontic care. Braces, specifically. Harrison really can’t wait any longer.
---
Why I’m Asking
Harrison has severe dental crowding and has needed braces for years. After a pandemic and run-around from previous dentists, we finally made it to a covered orthodontist, and even after insurance, the quote came back at $3,123. Eveline (Evie) will also need braces soon, but her case is less urgent, so my goal right now is to get Harrison into treatment before things get worse.

His current appointment is scheduled for August, but probably will need to reschedule a month or two out if I can’t pull these funds together in time. My credit is already maxed, still struggling to pay off loans from school and the pandemic.
---
Why It’s Been Hard to Do Alone
I make just enough to disqualify us from most financial aid programs, but not enough to actually afford additional major costs like this. It’s a difficult middle zone—too much for help, too little to stay ahead.
I’ve been raising both kids without consistent support from their other parent, and while I’ve reached out to family for help, that hasn’t panned out either. Like many single parents, I’m juggling rent, utilities, car/commuting expenses, food, student loans, and other costs, both anticipated and unexpected.
Braces are one of those “extra” medical needs that is lucky for any piece of it to be covered by dental insurance, and that gets pushed aside until you can’t anymore—and that’s where we are now.
---
The Goal & How Funds Will Be Used
Initial Goal: $3,500
$3,159 → Harrison’s braces (quoted after insurance)
~$200 → GoFundMe processing fees and incidental costs (supplies, appointment gas, emergency repairs)
Any extra funds will be saved for Eveline’s braces when her treatment is ready in the next few months/year.
If this campaign goes beyond our goal, I’ll post updates and raise the amount transparently to reflect her upcoming needs.

What Your Help Means
Without treatment, Harrison’s crowding could lead to long-term dental issues: jaw pain, gum disease, tooth wear, and avoidable surgeries later. He’s done an amazing job caring for his teeth—he’s responsible, thoughtful, and has been incredibly patient waiting for this.
Getting him started now means giving him a real shot at lifelong oral health—and honestly, a much-needed confidence boost, too.

Ways to Help (Even If You Can’t Donate)
Share the campaign with your networks: friends, parenting groups, Discords, FB, Reddit, anywhere.
Leave a kind note of encouragement for Harrison or Eveline—we’ll read every one.
If you have creative fundraising ideas or access to employer matching, I’d love to hear them.
---
Promise of Transparency
I’ll share:
The redacted cost estimate from the orthodontist
Payment updates
Final balance snapshots and how funds are used
If we end up raising more than needed, every dollar will be saved or returned transparently.

Thank You
I never imagined turning to crowdfunding for something like this, but here we are—and I’m deeply grateful for every share, every dollar, and every bit of support from community.
With love,
Laura (Mom to Harrison & Eveline)
