**UPDATE 26/05/2026**
Hello,
We wanted to update everyone regarding the fundraiser for Harrison and thank you again for the incredible support and generosity shown.
As many of you know, the fundraiser was created to help Harrison and his dad travel to Brisbane, Australia for the UCI BMX Racing World Championships after Harrison qualified for the event.
Unfortunately, since qualifying, Harrison has experienced several injuries and setbacks. Although we also did not manage to raise enough funds to fully cover the costs of travelling to Australia, the main factor in this decision is that, after a lot of careful thought, Harrison does not currently feel ready to compete at the World Championships this year.
We wanted to be completely transparent with everyone who kindly donated and explain the situation honestly.
We would like to offer donors the following options regarding the funds raised:
- allow the funds to continue supporting Harrison’s future BMX racing and development
- or request a refund if you would prefer
Your support has meant a huge amount to Harrison and our family, and we truly appreciate every donation, message, and share. We want to make sure everything is handled fairly, respectfully, and in line with the intentions of everyone who contributed.
If you would like to discuss your donation or request a refund, please contact me directly by 30 June 2026 so we can make the necessary arrangements. To message me, click ‘View update’, scroll down to ‘Organiser’, and you’ll see a ‘Message’ option below my name. Click that to send a message to me. If we do not hear from you by 30 June 2026, we will assume you are happy for your donation to remain in support of Harrison’s future BMX development.
Thank you again for your understanding and support.
————————
Harrison Barnes, age 14, has been BMX racing since he was five years old. It’s his passion. Over the years, he has shown real dedication - training with Nuneaton BMX Club in all weathers, travelling to competitions, and giving his all on the track.
For the past two years, Harrison has won the Midlands Race Series, and this season he even challenged himself by racing in the age group above his own. In 2025, he finished an incredible 11th in the National Race Series, earning him qualification for the UCI BMX Racing World Championships in Brisbane, Australia, July 2026.
Behind every young rider is a family making it possible. Harrison couldn’t do this without the constant support of his dad, who is always there as coach and pit crew - and his mum, who spends countless hours taking him to training sessions, cheering from the sidelines, and keeping everything running smoothly at home. Together, they’re the team behind Harrison’s success.
Competing in Brisbane comes with significant costs, including flights, accommodation, and the essentials for an international event. For two people (Harrison and his dad), we’re looking at around £5,500–£6,000 to make this possible.
That’s why we’ve set up this fundraiser - to give Harrison the chance to live his dream, race on the biggest stage in BMX, and show what hard work and determination can achieve.
Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly towards travel, accommodation, and race expenses. If you can’t donate, simply sharing this page means the world to us. If we don’t manage to reach the full target, all funds raised will still go towards Harrison’s ongoing racing, training, and development in BMX — helping him continue to progress and chase future opportunities.
Thank you so much for supporting Harrison on this incredible journey. Let’s get him to Brisbane! ✨
