Harrison is the bravest person we know. Born with hydrocephalus, requiring surgery shortly after birth to have a VP shunt placed and developing cerebral palsy, he has faced challenges most children never will. From countless therapy sessions to learning new ways to adapt each day, he has shown nothing but strength, courage, and determination.
On top of his daily struggle with cerebral palsy, Harrison has endured the frightening complications of multiple shunt malfunction. Hospital stays, emergency interventions including cutting and expansion of his skull, not to mention the constant worry of "what if" have become a part of our lives. Yet through it all, he continues to smile and fight forward.
Although originally rejected, Harrison has been accepted to participate in a stem cell infusion therapy at Duke University. After spending countless hours researching and discussing this with all his physicians, we have concluded that this has a real chance to provide improved mobility, reduced pain, and a better quality of life. This therapy offers hope where traditional medicine has left us with limited options.
Unfortunately, the cost of this treatment, along with travel, specialized therapy, and continued rehabilitation is not covered by insurance and will be an overwhelming- $30,000 or more- but we believe no cost is too high when it comes to giving our child the best chance at a brighter, more independent future.
We are asking for your help. Whether it's through donation, sharing our story, or keeping Harrison in your prayers, your support means the world to us. Every single contribution brings us one step closer to this life- changing opportunity.
