Help Harold Return to His Family — And One Day, to Us
At Calabasas Pickleball Club, Harold isn't just a groundskeeper. He's family.
Before our doors ever opened, Harold was here — hired to care for the "Great Lawn." But what he gave us was so much more. He turned our facility into a sanctuary. He repaired everything that broke. He landscaped with pride. He became the first face many members saw and the last one they said goodbye to. He never asked for a raise. He never complained. He just worked — with honor, with heart, and with humility.
Harold’s Story
Harold came to the United States the right way — legally, as an asylum seeker. He fled an unstable country, following every law and every process. But changes in U.S. immigration policy and new authoritarian laws in his home country have left him with an impossible choice:
Stay here and face certain deportation — and a 10-year ban from returning.
Or voluntarily return home, try to apply for a work visa, and pray for a legal path back.
If his asylum were granted, his home country would strip him of citizenship and seize his family’s land. But if he’s denied — which is now the most likely outcome — he gets deported without a chance to return. The system is rigged against him either way.
Why We’re Asking for Help
Harold's family back home is drowning in debt. They make $5–$10 a day picking beans. The only thing allowing them to stay afloat is a small pickup truck they use to get their crops to market — a truck they can’t afford without Harold’s help.
We want to raise $16,000 to:
Pay off the truck loan — so his family doesn’t lose their only source of income.
Support Harold through the long, costly visa application process.
Help him get trade-certified and fluent in English, so when he comes back, he returns not just with hope — but with a future.
Why This Matters
This isn’t just about one man. It’s about what kind of people we are — and what kind of country we still want to be.
Harold has given everything to our club. He works with dignity. He gives without asking. He’s mentored a kids baseball program. He’s donates clothing, supplies and thing we consider trash and sends it back home. He’s lifted our community with nothing but a shovel, a smile, and his two hands.
We can’t let him go out like this.
His brother will stay on at the club, and we’ll move forward. But it won’t be the same without Harold. Not until we bring him home.
Please consider donating whatever you can. Every dollar is a vote for fairness. Every share is a chance for Harold to come back to the people who love him.
