Help Harlow Live Her Best Life

Hello, my name is Dan and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart in hopes of finding support for our beloved 5-year-old purebred German Shepherd, Harlow. She has been with our family since she was a pup and has brought so much love, joy, and comfort to all of us. As a military family with five kids, we already face many challenges, but seeing Harlow in pain breaks us.

Harlow is more than just a pet—she’s family. She’s a cuddly, sweet soul who loves nothing more than curling up next to us for snuggles. Unfortunately, Harlow has been dealing with some serious health issues that have only worsened over time, and the financial burden of her care has become overwhelming.

Harlow has been diagnosed with a moderate case of hip dysplasia, and over the years, her condition has progressively gotten worse. She also suffers from arthritis, which makes movement painful for her. To manage her hip dysplasia, she needs to take 2 tablets of Metacam a day, but due to the cost, we’ve had to reduce it to one pill every other day, which has unfortunately affected her well-being.

In addition to her joint issues, Harlow has a thyroid problem that requires daily medication, and she also struggles with seasonal allergies that require Apoquel during allergy season. The combination of her medications and the frequent vet visits—such as her yearly thyroid tests, which cost around $300, and her X-rays to monitor her hip dysplasia, which can cost $400-$500—have become too much for us to handle financially. As her condition progresses, she will need more medication and more care, which we simply can’t afford on our own.

We have reached out to numerous rescues and organizations, but because of her health issues, no one is able to help. Giving up Harlow is the absolute last thing we want to do, but it feels like we're failing her. She doesn’t deserve to suffer because we can’t provide the medication and care she needs.

We are a family who loves our animals as part of the family, and all we want is to give Harlow the best life she deserves. That's why we are humbly asking for help. Any donation, no matter how small, will go directly to her medications, tests, and necessary vet visits so that we can keep Harlow with us and ensure she isn’t in pain.
