Two years ago, my children and I rescued a dog who changed our lives. Harley, as we named him, was found as a pup—abused, neglected, and covered in scars with a fractured skull. From the moment we met him, there was an immediate bond. He became a loving, gentle member of our family, bringing joy and comfort to all of us, especially my kids.

Harley will be 4 years old this June. Recently, he began struggling to walk on his right hind leg. After a visit to the vet, we received heartbreaking news: Harley has a complete ruptured ACL, and the only way he’ll walk on that leg again is with surgery. The vet explained that the injury has been worsening over time, causing arthritis in his knee, and warned that the same could happen to his other leg. If that happens, Harley may not be able to walk at all. As a single parent, the financial barrier to getting Harley the TPLO surgery he needs feels overwhelming. My sister, who was with us at the vet, encouraged me to reach out for help.
