My car was swallowed by a flood, and now I need help to recover.
Hi, my name is Harley, and I’m fundraising because I lost the car I worked my entire young life for.
I live outside Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Recently, severe flooding hit the area where I work. The water came in so fast, we had to be evacuated by lifeboats. My car was trapped in the flood and is now completely destroyed — you can see it in the photo.
I started working when I was 14. At 17, I was working 50+ hours a week while trying to finish school. I bought my car with the money I earned — the first in my family that wasn’t from the ‘90s — and I was so proud of it.
It wasn’t just a car. It was proof of how far I’d come. It was how I got to work, how I helped my family, and how I stayed independent.
Now, I’m asking for help to get back on my feet.
I’m trying to raise $11,000 to replace my car and cover related costs — like temporary transportation, DMV fees, insurance, and lost wages. Every bit helps — no donation is too small. And if you can’t give, please share this with someone who might be able to.
Thank you for reading my story. Your kindness means more than I can ever say.
— Harley
