Harley has been a cherished part of our family for nearly ten years. On May 7, 2026, our world turned upside down when Harley was hit by a car. My daughter, who is currently home on maternity leave, had to act immediately. She picked up Harley, who weighs 65 pounds, gathered her new baby, and rushed to the Animal Emergency Hospital. It was a terrifying and heartbreaking moment for our family, and since then we have been focused on getting Harley the care she needs to survive and recover.
Right now, Harley remains in the hospital undergoing extensive tests and scans to determine the full extent of her injuries. She has suffered serious head trauma, including damage to her skull and jaw. Her skull is fractured around her left eye socket, and sadly, the veterinary team is unable to save her eye. She is undergoing surgery to have it removed, and after that, more imaging will be needed to understand how to move forward with treatment for the skull fracture. The veterinarians are also closely monitoring her other eye and watching for any additional complications that could arise.
We are asking for help to cover Harley's emergency medical care, hospitalization, surgery, continued monitoring, additional scans, and any specialist treatment she may need next. This has been an incredibly painful and unexpected experience for our family, especially while my daughter is caring for a newborn. Any support, whether through a donation or by sharing Harley's story, would mean so much to us. Thank you for helping us give Harley the best chance at healing and recovery.
