A year and a half ago, Harley Gutierrez was independent, hardworking, and full of energy - building her future and supporting herself. Today, she is fighting every day just to regain basic function.
After a sudden decline in her health, Harley has endured repeated hospitalizations, surgery complications, and countless medical appointments searching for answers. She has been diagnosed with multiple complex conditions including Lupus, MCTD, POTS, IST, MCAS, and most recently Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) - a neurological condition causing seizures and severe movement symptoms that have taken away her ability to work and live independently.
Harley didn’t give up. Her family has spent months searching across the country for answers and treatment options. After an exhausting journey, they have finally located specialized FND treatment programs with strong success rates.
There is hope - but there is also urgency.
Medical research shows recovery outcomes are significantly better when treatment begins within the first 1–2 years of symptom onset, and Harley is currently within that critical window at 1 and a half years. The challenge is that this intensive 4-week treatment is out of state and not covered by insurance, placing it financially out of reach without help.
Harley’s dream is not simply to feel better - it is to return to work, regain her independence, and live the life she worked so hard to build. Disability is not the future she wants. She has big dreams and goals for her life and she wants the chance to heal.
