In early March, Hardt Family Cyclery was broken into. Again. It was the 9th time over the past 3 years that they have been robbed, despite their best efforts of securing their spaces. It’s not just the monetary losses that have piled up, but the emotional, mental, and physical toll it has taken on MacKenzie, Abby, and the rest of the staff. They deserve better.

Hardt Family Cyclery is a family-owned and operated bike shop specializing in all things e-bikes. But it is so much more than that. It is a pillar of the community, not just in NW Aurora, but the Greater Denver Area as well. Yes, they sell bikes and fix just about anything you can throw at them, but that’s just the beginning of what they do.

Hardt sponsors multiple bike libraries throughout the Greater Denver Area, giving low and no-cost access to e-bikes for the neighborhoods that need it most. They sponsor 6 different bike buses for schools in the surrounding neighborhoods, teaching children how to ride safely to and from school. They partner with and support other non-profits and local businesses, bringing bicycle awareness and teaching bike specific skills to as many people as possible. Each month, you’ll find Abby and MacKenzie leading Kidical Mass, showing parents and children the safest routes to neighborhood playgrounds and pastry shops. This is just a snippet of what they do for the communities.

They do all of this and more because they care about people. They care about the community and bringing people together. They care about accessibility and ensuring anyone that wants to ride, can ride, regardless of skill or ability. They have given so much to the community. Now is our opportunity to give back.
