Help Haraki go to Edinburgh Fringe 2025

Donation protected
Hi, we are the independent Theatre Company Haraki, Tbilisi based collective looking to bring our one woman show Ha to Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2025 on the 11-24th August @Cvenues.

Given the current situation in the country, it is very difficult for independent theatre companies to continue working and survive physically - independent theatres are losing support and funding not only locally but also internationally due to the new draconian laws the government has adopted.
Now more than ever, our industry needs support from the local and international communities who we believe share our spirit and vision.

Given the scale of the festival, we believe that this is a unique opportunity to represent Georgia at the largest and most influential theatre festival, build new connections and share our reality with the rest of the world.

About the show:
Ha
Author: Mariam Megvinyte
Director: Sandro Kalandadze
Actor: Anano Makharadze
Set Design: Tamri Okhikiani
Sound: Ani Zakareishvili

Our aim was to create a new, modern text—a monologue intended for a female actor—that would uncompromisingly speak the truth of today. It seems that the civilisation that once aspired to peace and equality has begun to crumble before our eyes, murdering the most innocent.
The text is a "Voice of the dead cast upon the dry shores of the sea" the ever present voice that permanently collects stories and conditions of life of the unjustly killed and the most innocent victims of humanity, only to appear at the most catastrophic moments in history, when in the face of the highest development we equally have achieved the most dire crimes of war and live in moral paradox. The ambivalence of attitude, the ignorance of guilt, the pleasure of comfort. The voice is expression of the condition which is beyond ideology, a condition of fear and wrath and thirst of revenge whilst hoping for peace. It reflects present day in its most naked and vulnerable form. A voice that leaves no perpetrator untouched.

“Ha” is a 30 minute, uninterrupted performance built on the rhythms of the performer’s voice and depth of her breath, based on Sandro Kalandadze's research into breath work.
