I was arrested by ICE at my green card interview in November 2025 after legally applying for adjustment of status as a spouse of a US citizen. I spent 9 days in detention, where I experienced severe neglect of my medical needs, resulting in long-term physical and mental damages. I'm type 1 diabetic (since 2007) and my condition was ignored for several days, resulting in a blood sugar of 508. I later found out they had misdiagnosed me as type 2. (They put down the wrong condition in my file)
I developed infections requiring antibiotics and antifungals, but never received them. Treatment was severely delayed, and I’m still needing antibiotics 3 months later.
I spent 5 days in isolation, which was psychological torture. I am seeing a therapist and have a PTSD diagnosis.
After getting out, I found out my credit card was stolen by an agent or guard at the detention center, and used while I was there.
Since being released, I have been struggling to recover physically, emotionally, and financially. The trauma and neglect I experienced have left lasting effects, and I am now facing significant legal expenses, therapy costs, and medical bills. I am also pursuing legal action to seek justice (sue) for what happened to me in detention, which requires additional resources and support.
No human should go through what I did, and I will always fight for what's right. I appreciate you helping me through a hard time in my life. Your support means the world to me as I work to heal and move forward to advocate for those who can't speak up.
