Help Hannah's Opera Training Throughout Europe

Hello I am Hannah Friesen, a Canadian-American soprano. 

I graduated from Manhattan School of Music with a Master’s degree in classical voice in spring of 2019 and continued to live and work in NYC until the pandemic. This season of uncertainly took its toll on the performing arts and with so many changes in circumstance, I reluctantly left NYC feeling somewhat lost and defeated unsure of what my future in opera would look like.

At the beginning of 2021 I decided to take a chance and move to Philadelphia where several of my colleagues from the opera world had also relocated. In Philly I could continue my opera training with the same vocal teachers and coaches I’d worked with in Manhattan, now as a Principal Artist with the International School of the Voice.

I could not be more grateful for this twist in my journey. As much as I loved my time in NYC, these last five months have allowed so many opportunities to flourish musically and professionally. As a young artist, I continue to make progress and as a result I’m delighted to now have the opportunity to train with the International School of the Voice (ISV) in Europe this summer. I couldn’t be happier! What an exciting next step for my growth as a performer in the early stages of my opera career.

In celebration of this wonderful opportunity, I am recording a private recital as a fundraiser to help supplement the cost of international travel to make this summer’s vocal studies abroad possible. All ticket proceeds will contribute to travel expenses, housing, food, master classes, Italian & German classes, vocal & diction coachings, and voice lessons while living and studying in Europe.
