Help Hannah tick things off her Bucket List

All of you know my best friend Hannah Blight.

This amazing, kind-hearted, generous, and also very stubborn person has touched and is part of so many of our lives. As well as being an amazing friend, Hannah is also an amazing granddaughter, daughter, sister, auntie, and most importantly fur mummy to Luna and Nala.

Hannah also goes by many names, Blighty and 'Meg' being her main nicknames.

As you all know Hannah was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer back in August 2018 age just 28! She battled through all the ups and downs that came with Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy, kicking its ass as she would put it, and always with a smile on her face. Hannah never complained, even when she had a 'Tennis Ball head!' Since she finished targeted treatment there have still been bone infusions, hormone therapy, and drug trials running in the background.

Fast forward 5 years of remission to November 2023 when her world spun upon its axis again. Hannah attended ED with a suspected lower tract chest infection only to be told the devastating news that her Breast Cancer had returned and was now secondary which had spread into her Pleural Cavity. Hannah now has Stage 4 Secondary Breast Cancer with Metastasis and it is now Incurable.

After a few crazy days, Hannah had a litre of Plueral

fluid drained from her Pleural Cavity and this gave her collapsed lung room to reinflate and it has been able to reattach to her chest wall. Fortunately, the fluid has not returned but Hannah is still suffering with breathlessness albeit presenting herself to everyone with a huge smile on her face.

Hannah is unable to work due to the physical requirements of her job and the risk of exposure to infections. As you will all know Hannah lives for work and is a Trojan and always doing extra shifts. Hannah was hoping to go to university to study Adult Nursing in September, but it is unlikely that she will be well enough to do this. Despite knowing this Hannah has been determined to finish her Access Course, with all of her assignments so far being distinctions!

Hannah has had huge issues getting financial help as it seems her age is against her which is limiting her quality and enjoyment of the life she has left.

We do not know what the future holds. There is no time frame or specific prognosis which makes it even harder to set goals. All I know is that my best friend is dying.

Hannah is at peace with the fact that she is dying sooner rather than later. Discussions around health plans, death, and funerals have been had at length. Hannah is very open about her expectations and has told me things that I would never have been expecting to talk about. Also, does anyone know of a good Palliative Care Nurse? Hannah has told me that I am not allowed to nurse her and have to be friend!

Jokes aside, Hannah has written an impressive, yet very expensive bucket list. Hannah is not naive in the fact she may not complete all of these items but she would like to tick off as many as possible and make lots of new memories with everyone she loves while she is well enough and able to do so.

I'd like to try and help her smash this bucket list even if it is only ticking off a few of the many she has created.
