Adaptive car for Hannah

As many of you know, my name is Hannah & on October 27, 2017 at 19 years old, I had an awful accident that left me with collapsed lungs, a concussion, several broken bones, and a spinal cord injury that instantly paralyzed me from the hips down. Since then, I have been a full time wheelchair user that was given a less than 1% chance of ever walking on my own again.
As I get older, my shoulders are starting to wear and tear and aren’t as reliable as they used to be. My chair constantly gets broken apart and put back together whenever I go anywhere since I don’t have a ramp or any other modifications to help with my wheelchair. As you can probably imagine that’s put a lot of damage to my shoulders and my chair and also takes it’s toll on my parents in their 60’s. It breaks my heart to need their help and to put that strain on them.
I’d like to get an adapted SUV or Van. All the adaptions I’d need for my type of injury include hand controls, ramp, electric sliding door, keyless entry, taking out the middle seat, lock for my manual wheelchair, swiveling driver seat, & labour is $50k. (Vocational rehab would cover a portion of the adaptions but would be leaving me with the vehicle and they won’t let you get a van that is cheaper than the adaptions, & the car has to be made within the last 5 years.)
Every grant out there is either for kids, people with rare diseases, or veterans.
My money already largely goes to being disabled. Leg braces are 20k+, custom wheelchairs are 8k+, all my prescription meds are 4,000 per year, doctors appointments are 1,260 for the year, physical therapy is 1,820 for the year, remodeling my home to be able to get around was 28k.. & that’s only the beginning. As you can probably imagine, being disabled is so expensive.
Having a vehicle I can safely & quickly get inside of will improve my quality of life more than I can imagine. It’ll preserve the longevity of shoulders, back, and my wheelchair. Quite honestly, it’s a dream of mine and wouldn’t help just me, but my family and friends who have helped me with driving around and loading my chair.
I do my best to handle it all on my own but it comes to the point where I can’t do it alone. If you can help in anyway whatsoever, even just sharing this page, it means the absolute world to me. I say it all the time, but I don’t deserve any of you.
I cannot thank you enough❤️
All my love,
Hannah
(P.S. since I know people might be curious, the robotic leg braces are physically not able to be able to drive a normal car, I would get in accident for sure lol)
