Help Hannah Fight Uveal Melanoma
Donation protected
Hannah Thompson is a wife, mother, sister and daughter, who has been battling Uveal Melanoma since 2017. For the disease local to her eye, she has received several different treatments such as laser treatments and radiation to her eye. After her son, Everett, was born in 2021, she found out the devastating news that the cancer had spread to her liver and bones. Since uveal melanoma only has one FDA approved systemic treatment (which Hannah doesn’t have the right blood alleles for), her and her husband started exploring holistic medicine as an option. Their family began eating plant based, whole foods, and in the summer of 2022 Hannah, her husband Tory and their son Everett, traveled to Kansas city to undergo an intensive 3 week holistic program of infusions and integrative therapies.
As many of you have previously read and learned about, this treatment has been helping control Hannah’s cancer. Currently she receives at home Vitamin C infusions, Mistletoe injections, sauna, countless vitamins and supplements to help fight her metastatic disease. This summer Hannah and her family received unwelcome news. Lab work that tracks her tumors (metastatic disease) spiked from 0 to 0.17. At this same time, she received new scans that demonstrated a new liver growth. Since July of this summer Hannah has continued her holistic treatment as it has fought her cancer and kept it controlled for the last 2 years. Recently her lab work came back elevated, instead of a few points, her circulating tumor marker doubled in value. She currently plans to undergo an ablation (burning of her liver tumor) at MD Anderson in November to treat her new, active metastatic cancer. She wants to fight the new tumors with traditional medicine, but continue (and bolster) her holistic treatments for her systemic management.
Unfortunately her holistic approach including, IV Vitamin C, supplements additional vitamins and lab testing is not covered by insurance. The previous fundraisers have helped support Hannah’s treatment tremendously, words cannot express how grateful we all are. We are saddened that the effective treatments are not covered. Hannah’s medical fund has dwindled at the same time she has received the news of this new, active liver tumor. We are asking for any type of support during this time. From thoughts, prayers, texts to donations all support will be appreciated. We value all of the time and support Hannah’s community has contributed over the last few years.
Hannah’s story so far has inspired many people, including family, friends, colleagues, and she hopes to continue showing the world and medical community that stage 4 uveal melanoma is not a death sentence. Please help Hannah anyway you can, so have her family have many more years with her.
