Hi everyone,

First, thank you. So many of you have loved Hank right alongside me—whether you’ve met him on our walks, shared a couch with him during a visit, worked with us professionally, or simply followed his goofy little adventures. He has this quiet way of making an imprint on people, and I’m beyond grateful for the love and warmth you’ve all given him.

On Monday, we received heartbreaking news. His CT scan showed a very aggressive tumor inside his left nasal passage. It’s destroying the normal bone in several areas—his nasal cavity, the inner wall of his eye socket—and it’s beginning to extend toward the olfactory region of his brain. The tumor is both destructive and productive, meaning it’s breaking down bone while also forming abnormal new bone tissue. Hearing the full picture was devastating.

The prognosis isn’t what we hoped. But radiation therapy has been recommended as the best option to ease his discomfort. It could give him another 6–9 months, but *MOST IMPORTANTLY* it will help him feel better, breathe easier, and enjoy the time he has left without the pain he’s been quietly carrying.

My only goal now is to give Hank as much comfort, joy, and dignity as possible. He’s been my constant, dedicated companion through years of personal and financial hardship. Many of you already know how tough the last few years have been—three layoffs in three years, an industry downturn, and more instability than I ever imagined navigating.

Dogs respond quite well to radiation and the side effects are surprisingly minimal - mild fatigue, possible hair loss at the site of treatment and some localized discomfort right after treatment. I’ve gotten several professional opinions and the decision ultimately comes down to cost. So for me, there is no question. He is my entire world and I would give up everything to make sure he gets the care he deserves. I know that I will never regret this choice - regardless of the financial consequences.

This is the part I never imagined writing, but if you’re able to donate—even a small amount—it would mean more than I can express. Every dollar goes directly to Hank’s treatment, pain management, and the care he needs to stay comfortable. The cost of radiation is around $8,000 not including ongoing pain management medications.
