Help Hank Get Through the Battle of his Life

Hello everyone. Our names are Rachel and Jadyn Goodrich and we are aiming to raise funds for our 4-year-old dog Hank who has recently been diagnosed with megaesophagus - a condition where the esophagus becomes enlarged and can no longer move food and/or liquids down to the stomach. This leads to regurgitation, which can then cause aspiration pneumonia when food or liquid ends up in the lungs. Hank has been hospitalized since last Friday (May 23rd) and is currently fighting pneumonia - a very serious and sometimes fatal complication that severely impacts his breathing. He’s receiving high-level oxygen support, antibiotics, multiple medications, fluid therapy, and more. Just treating the pneumonia alone has already cost over $15,000 and that number continues to grow. We’re also in the process of testing for an underlying cause of the megaesophagus, with one likely suspect being myasthenia gravis, an autoimmune disorder that prevents nerves from properly communicating with muscles, including those needed to swallow. To make matters even more heartbreaking, Hank began having seizures at age 3, a separate neurological disorder that causes sudden, uncontrolled electrical activity in the brain. Despite trying multiple medications, his seizures now occur as frequently as every two weeks. In total, Hank’s hospitalizations, treatments, and diagnostic testing have accrued around $20,000, placing a tremendous financial strain on our parents. We’re doing everything we can to support them and give Hank the best shot at surviving this and living a happy, healthy life. Hank truly has the biggest heart and kindest soul, and it breaks ours to see him go through so much. He was dealt a tough hand, but he deserves the chance to live a full and joyful life.
