My best friend Hank was just diagnosed with aggressive squamous cell carcinoma in his middle ear. After nine months of vet visits for his unexplained weight loss, recurring ear infections, and nose sores, a CT scan uncovered what six other doctors had missed — a large mass in his middle ear pushing against his skull.
The cancer hasn’t spread beyond that area yet, but it’s growing fast, and time is running out.
Surgery was taken off the table — the risks were too high, and it would have caused serious harm or possibly death. Palliative radiation is his only viable option now. It’s a chance to relieve his pain, slow the cancer down, and maybe even shrink the tumor enough to allow for future care and better options.
He’s scheduled to start treatment this Monday in Salt Lake City — the soonest and closest appointment available. I’ll be continuing his care afterward with specialists at Oregon State University and a trusted local vet.
I’m trying to raise $6,000 to cover part of his treatment and medications. If you’re able to help — through a donation or simply sharing this page — it would mean everything.
Hank is not just my cat — he’s been my companion for ten and a half years. He’s intelligent, expressive, shy, charming, very handsome, and loves nothing more in the world than loving and being loved.
Thank you for reading and for being part of this.
Warm Regards,
Jason
