Hi, my name is Haniyah, and I’m a sophomore, computer information systems major at Howard University. I’m starting this fundraiser because I recently found out that the tuition at Howard has increased, and I’m no longer able to fully cover the cost for the upcoming school year.

Education has always been incredibly important to me—not just as a path to a career, but as a way to create lasting change for myself and my community. Being at Howard has been an amazing experience so far, and I’m determined to continue my journey here. Unfortunately, I now find myself in a financial bind, and I’m turning to this platform in hopes of getting support.

I’m trying to raise money to help cover my tuition. School begins on August 18th, and while I’m hopeful that I can gather the funds before then, the final deadline to remain enrolled without financial penalty is September 5th. I’m doing everything I can—applying for scholarships, working, and budgeting carefully—but the gap is still too large to manage alone.

I’m hesitant to take out additional student loans, especially given the long-term impact they can have, but if it becomes necessary, I’d at least like to reduce the amount I borrow as much as possible.
