TYLER’S COURT renovation of NJ basketball court
Want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money to benefit Tyler Ugolyn Foundation’s renovation of basketball courts “Tyler’s Court” in the inner city and any donation will help make an impact. The Foundation was established in memory of our beloved son who perished at the WTC on 9/11. He was 23 years old and had just graduated from Columbia University where he was a recruited basketball team student-athlete. While in college he founded a basketball clinic for inner-city youth and volunteered his time at a Harlem soup kitchen. www.tylerugolyn.com to learn more about “Tyler’s Courts.” This court renovation is for the benefit of Hands in 4 Youth’s indoor basketball court renovation at Camp Vacamas in West Milford, NJ. The Camp provides over 600 underserved youth ages 6-17 with sleep away and day camp programs proven to impact their social and emotional development as well as support their academic improvement. Any day that programs happen at Camp, a visitor will find young people playing hoops focusing on teamwork or taking part in another activity on the floor from choreographing a dance for the talent show to organizing a group project for the nature science program. More than “just” a basketball court, this gym floor to be renovated is one of the most important facilities on-site serving as a major hub of daily camp life, a year round venue for indoor sports and performance activities, and a vital program space on rainy days. The basketball court floor is 48 x 80’ and will have 3 regulation backboards and baskets. A new surface of 2 1/2” boards of #2 grade maple wood will be installed, sanded, and receive a triple-layer, high gloss polyurethane clear coat, with basketball lines painted. Selected multiple contractor bids have confirmed the project cost of $35,000 to complete. We at the Tyler Ugolyn Foundation gain strength from the great Jackie Robinson’s epitaph which states that the value of one’s life is not determined by the number of years but by the number of lives you touch. “Tyler’s Court” continued our son Tyler’s legacy of helping others in need. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this special cause which means so much to me and our family, and especially for these youngsters in need.
