Help With Hana's Visa Costs

Donation protected
Hi everyone,

We’re reaching out with a lot of humility to ask for your support.

We're Hana and Nissa, a queer, neurodiverse couple (oh yes, we're whipping out the identity cards) — fighting to stay together in the UK.

Here come the big guns: Hana is a Palestinian-American lesbian, and Nissa is a trans woman of colour. If Hana is deported to the US, not only would we be forced apart, but there’s serious uncertainty about whether Nissa could even safely visit — politically, logistically, and emotionally, it’s a mess.

After an unexpected job loss, we’re facing enormous visa and legal costs just to stay in our home and with each other. Every donation, share, and kind word helps more than we can say. Thank you for helping us through this. ❤️

From Hana:

I'm facing the real threat of deportation.

Earlier this year, I was suddenly and unjustly fired from my job — with zero warning. Because my visa was tied to that employment, I’m now racing to find a way to stay in the country: the place I call home, where my community is, and where I’m building a life with my fiancée, Nissa.

This has been devastating. But I won’t go on too long — most of you already know me, and have had an earful.

The most secure path forward is applying for a Spousal Visa. We’ve always planned to get married, but the timeline’s now being dictated by the Home Office. The costs, though, are staggering — especially while we’re both currently out of work (despite searching daily). Between visa fees, legal help, getting legally married, and basic living expenses, it’s more than we can manage alone.

We’re doing everything we can — but we can’t do it without help.

Here’s a rough breakdown of what your support would go toward:

  • Spouse Visa Application Fee: £1,048
  • Immigration Health Surcharge (4 years): £4,105
  • Priority Processing Fee (optional, but may be crucial to avoid overstaying): £1,000
  • Biometric Appointment Fee: £20
  • Marriage Registration Fee (giving notice at Leeds registry office): £114
  • Marriage Ceremony Fee (weekday ceremony at Leeds Register Office): £340
  • Housing Inspection Report (proof of adequate accommodation): £120
  • Solicitor/Immigration Advisor Consultation (strongly recommended): £400
  • Contingency Buffer (paperwork, travel, postage, etc.): £200

Total estimated cost: £7,347
(Note: Visa and NHS surcharge rates are set by the Home Office and subject to change.)

Every donation, no matter the size, directly helps us cover these costs and stay together in the home we’re building.

If you can’t donate, sharing this with others would mean the world to us.

If we’re lucky enough to raise more than we need, any surplus will be donated to a cause our community believes in — and we’ll be transparent about where it goes.

Thank you for your kindness, your solidarity, and your belief in our right to build a life, a home, and a future together.

With love and gratitude,
Hana (& Nissa)
