Hi, I’m organizing this GoFundMe for my mom, Halima Muya.

Her house was completely destroyed in a fire. Her children were upstairs when the fire broke out and had to jump out of a window to escape. Both of them suffered broken bones from the fall. We are grateful they survived, but the injuries were serious.

Halima lost her husband in 2019 after he suffered multiple strokes. The house was the only thing she had left to remember him by. Now, that too is gone.

She lost everything in the fire: furniture, clothing, personal belongings, and memories. It was devastating. She tried reaching out to her insurance company, but they refused to cover the cost of repairs. She also contacted several lawyers, but none were able to help her.

This tragedy was completely unexpected. Halima spent her whole life working hard to give her family a better future. Losing her husband was heartbreaking. Losing her home on top of that has been overwhelming.

At first, she started doing small repairs to the house, hoping to rebuild. But due to unforeseen issues, she was later told that the entire property would have to be demolished and rebuilt from scratch. This has made things even more difficult.
