Hi everyone! My name is Haley Quijalvo and I’m a 19 year old pre-nursing student at Cal State Long Beach living away from home and fully supporting myself while pursuing my education.
This month I have experienced an incredibly stressful series of events that have left me in serious financial hardship. On October 10, I lost my car key fob at an event and have been unable to find it to this day. Replacing it costs $850, plus it was $50 for my parents to ship me my only spare key from home. Because I couldn’t move my car, I got a $75 street-sweeping citation that I tried to appeal, but the city denied it.
Then, on October 26, my car was towed from my own apartment complex after being parked for just an hour in the parking lot right infront of me, because my parking pass “wasn’t visible,” even though it was in my car in the cupholder. The towing fee alone costs $550. Both the towing company and my apartment management refuse to help me at all or acknowledge the situation.
Altogether, I now owe about $1,500, which is very difficult for me as a full-time student. I recently had to leave my part-time job as a nursing assistant at a senior care home to focus on my prerequisites and maintain my grades, so I’m currently living off what little savings I have left.
Any help to get me back on my feet and out of this financial situation would be greatly appreciated, no matter how small! Every donation will go directly toward paying off the towing and citation costs and buying a new spare so I can continue getting to school safely and stay on track toward my dream of becoming a nurse.
Thank you so much for reading and for supporting students like me who are just trying to make it through. God bless! ❤️
