Hi everyone,
I’m starting this fundraiser for Haley, the beloved mother of my sister-in-law, Jill, who means so much to all who know her. She is a beloved mother, friend, and an irreplaceable part of our lives, and our hearts are heavy as she faces an incredibly difficult diagnosis.
If you know Haley, you already know.. she is the funniest person in any room, the one who keeps everyone laughing, shows up for everyone, and goes out of her way to support the people she loves. She is deeply involved in the lives of those around her and is always the first to be there when someone else needs it.
That’s why it is so incredibly hard to share that Haley was recently diagnosed with stage IV metastatic pancreatic cancer, which has spread to her liver, both lungs, and abdomen. This diagnosis came as a complete shock. She had always seemed perfectly healthy, with only mild abdominal pain, and this was found incidentally despite already being so advanced.
Because of the extent of the disease, she is not a surgical candidate, and her family is now urgently working to explore every possible option- treatment plans, second and third opinions, and clinical trials that could give her more time and quality of life. We are trying to move as quickly as possible to get her the care she needs.
Haley is currently unable to work and will likely be out of work indefinitely as she begins treatment. Her children, Jill and Devin, are stepping in to support her through this. Jill has relocated her to Maryland to help coordinate care, attend appointments, and advocate for her every step of the way. This will require significant time away from work, frequent travel, and navigating the many unexpected costs that come with a diagnosis like this.
We are raising funds to help support:
• Medical treatments and out-of-pocket expenses
• Travel to major cancer centers (including Memorial Sloan Kettering and other leading pancreatic cancer programs) and clinical trials
• Second and third (not covered by insurance) opinions with pancreatic cancer specialists
• Loss of income while caring for her
In addition, many supportive treatments that can help improve her quality of life are not covered by insurance. This includes therapies such as acupuncture for pain management, and high-dose intravenous vitamin C infusions, which are being explored to support treatment tolerance and reduce chemotherapy-related side effects. She will also require essential medications with very high copays, such as Movantik (used to manage severe constipation related to pain medications).
She will also be following a very specific, nutrient-focused diet to support her body during treatment, which adds another layer of ongoing expense. We also hope to create meaningful memories together as a family during this time, spending special moments together that mean so much to all of us.
We are incredibly grateful to those who have already reached out with connections, guidance, and support- it has been more valuable than we can express. If you are able to donate or share this page, it would mean so much to all of us. And if you have any experience with pancreatic cancer, know of specialists, or are aware of clinical trials, we would be incredibly grateful if you reached out. Every connection could make a difference right now.
Most of all, we ask for your prayers, positive thoughts, and support as this family navigates something no one is ever prepared for.
Thank you for helping us surround Haley with the same love and support she has always given to everyone else. ❤️
Even if you’re unable to donate, sharing this could help us reach someone who can help. Thank you for all of your love and support.
