Dear Friends & Family,
Seventeen-year-old Hala Hilal and her family of seven are enduring unimaginable hardships in Gaza. With the recent escalation of violence, their need for assistance is more urgent than ever.
Meet the Family: Hala lives with her parents and four younger brothers. Her 16-year-old brother, Mohammed, once dreamed of finishing school, but like Hala, his education has been stolen by the war. Their 13-year-old twin brothers, Yazan and Zain, should be spending their days playing and learning, but instead, they live in constant fear. Their youngest brother, Ayoub (11), is growing up in a world of deprivation, knowing nothing but war. Their mother, who underwent chest surgery 1.5 years ago, is back in the hospital with a severe infection caused by cooking over wood fires due to gas cut offs. Their father, despite his efforts, is unable to provide for them, as Gaza’s economy and infrastructure have completely collapsed.
Ceasefire Collapse: On March 18, 2025, the fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hamas was shattered. Heavy bombardment and ground invasions have resumed, killing over 400 Palestinians, including many women and children. Entire neighborhoods have been reduced to rubble, plunging Gaza back into chaos.
Humanitarian Crisis: The renewed conflict has made life in Gaza even more unlivable. More than 25 of Gaza’s 38 hospitals are now non-operational. Food, clean water, and medicine are critically scarce. Families like Hala’s face the daily reality of surviving on canned goods with no access to fresh food or safe drinking water.
Health Emergency: Hala’s mother, who underwent chest surgery 1.5 years ago, is back in the hospital with a severe chest infection. Due to gas shortages, she has been forced to cook over wood fires, which caused her chest to become inflamed and infected. With Gaza’s medical infrastructure in ruins, she lacks access to proper treatment. Hala is also in need of a surgery for her deviated septum. This condition coupled with her allergies makes it difficult for her to breathe.
Living Conditions: The family is displaced and sharing a single room with no facilities. The children, stripped of their education and safety, live in constant fear of airstrikes and ground invasion. Their daily meals consist of canned foods and bread made of spoiled flour—fresh food is a luxury they can no longer afford.
Financial Breakdown for Relocation:
- Border Crossing Fees: $7,500 per person at the Rafah crossing ($52,500 total)
- Initial Resettlement Expenses: $25,000 to cover basic needs and housing for three months
- Monthly Sustenance Until Migration: $500 per month for essential needs
✅ Total Fundraising Goal: $77,500 + $500/month until migration
How Funds Will Be Used:
Palestinian bank accounts cannot be directly linked to GoFundMe fundraisers. To work around this, Haadiya is managing the fundraiser on Hala's behalf. This campaign is connected to Haadiya's US bank account. All funds raised will be transferred to the bank account of Hala's mom through a direct wire transfer to Bank of Palestine. The fund will be used to support Hala, her parents, and her four younger brothers. The majority of the funds will be saved for migration expenses, while a portion will be used for immediate needs such as food, water, medical care, shelter, and other necessary expenses.
Call to Action: Hala dreams of a safe and stable future for her family—one where they can live without the constant threat of violence. Your support can help make this a reality. By contributing, you are giving them a chance to rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.
Please consider donating and sharing this campaign with your networks. Together, we can help Hala and her family escape the devastation and start anew.
Thank you for your compassion and generosity.
Note: The situation in Gaza is rapidly evolving. We will provide updates on the family’s status and the utilization of funds as new information becomes available.
