Help Hala Heal and Dream Again

My name is Emiliana Henriquez — I’m an artist from Los Angeles, currently living a nomadic life. Today, I’m reaching out not for myself, but on behalf of a brave little girl named Hala Abu Amra.

Hala was recently and severely injured, resulting in the urgent need for surgery to insert a metal rod in her leg. Her recovery will be long, painful, and expensive — but with your help, we can ease that burden.

I feel deeply compelled to share her story, not only because I believe every child deserves a safe and joyful childhood, but because Hala is a fellow artist at heart. At her age, I was already dreaming of painting the world with color. Hala, too, holds that same creative spark — and she deserves the chance to grow up, to dream freely, and to imagine a future beyond pain.

This fundraiser is about more than just medical bills. It's about giving one little girl the support she needs to heal and to continue dreaming. Humanity is about showing up for each other, and even the smallest act of love can ripple into something greater.

Let’s come together for Hala — for her healing, her future, and the hope of a more compassionate world.

With love and gratitude,
Emiliana Henriquez

From Hala’s Father: A Father's Plea for His Little Girl

Hala... my little flower, broken by war.

Before all of this devastation, my daughter Hala was preparing for her very first year of kindergarten. She was so excited — every evening, she would carefully pack her tiny school bag, laying out her favorite clothes with a smile that lit up my world.

She loved school. She loved colors, songs, games... she simply loved life.

Then the war came.
We fled our home in search of safety in Rafah — but safety never came.

Our house was bombed. We barely escaped with our lives.
Displaced once again, we now live in a tent in Al-Zawaida, trying to hold on to what remains of our lives.

One day, Hala visited her aunt in Khan Younis, hoping to feel a moment of normalcy... of joy.
But even that brief moment was stolen by violence.

She was struck in both legs by an explosive bullet.
Her bones shattered. Her tissues were torn apart.

She screamed, and I cried with her.
My heart broke into a thousand pieces.

Since that day, Hala has not been able to walk.
She cannot run, play, dance, or hold her little musical instrument like she once did. Every day she asks me:

"Mama, when will I walk again?"
"When can I play? When will I dance and make music like before?"

Hala urgently needs complex surgery and advanced medical care — treatment we cannot access here. We need to travel abroad to save her legs… and to save her childhood.

She deserves to live. To laugh. To run free. To be a child again — not to suffer in silence beneath the roof of a tent.

So I speak now to every human heart, every soul capable of compassion:
Please help Hala. Help give her back the life that war has stolen.
