Hello, my name is Myka Uyguangco, and I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of Hala from Gaza. Here is her story, told in his own words:

Surviving Genocide, Fighting for a Future

My name is Hala, I’m 20 years old, and I’m from Jabalia.

I used to live in a home with my family. I had just completed my twelfth year (Tawjihi) with a score of 70. I was disappointed because I had dreamed of scoring 94, but I accepted it as my destiny.

After graduating, my father and I went to the university to register. I paid my fees and chose mathematics as my major. Life seemed to be moving forward—until October 7th. That morning, I woke up to get dressed for class, but instead of a normal day, I was met with the sound of shelling.

In the days that followed, my house was destroyed. I lost friends, relatives, and my university. I was displaced from one place to another, enduring exhaustion and hardship, eventually ending up in Nuseirat. There, Fares proposed to me—another unexpected turn in my life.

Today, my situation is very difficult. My dream of completing my education was shattered. I want to return to university, study, and excel, but the occupation has stopped us from learning. I am deeply saddened.

I have also endured severe famine and weakness. Food prices are extremely high, and we cannot afford enough to eat. I urgently need help. Please help me make my dream come true. Thank you to everyone who is willing to support me.
