Help Hailee Stand Tall: Spinal Surgery Fundraiser

A few weeks ago, we learned that our daughter Hailee is suffering from a spinal condition called Scoliosis. In her case, the curvature is so severe that she is going to need spinal surgery to try and correct it. The upper back is at a 51° curve to the right, and the lower back is at a 39° curve to the left, similar to an "S" shape.

This has caught us by complete surprise; we simply thought she had some posture issues from suffering a broken leg and the healing process the summer previously.

Now we need to get her and ourselves prepared for this major surgery. This is going to be a long and costly road ahead and there is a lengthy healing process once the surgery is complete. She is seeing an amazing orthopedic spinal surgeon at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital, and he is fully confident this will allow her to go on to live a full and healthy life. We want to give her every chance at that as we can.

Hailee is such a sweet, kind, and happy young girl. She is a talented artist and has aspirations of one day becoming a nurse. She is brave but nervous, naturally, about this surgery and wants to go ahead and get it done so she can move forward.

I am asking for help to try and take some of the financial strain off of us, mostly my husband Bryan Stencil as he is the sole provider for our family. He is going to need to take time off of work for the surgery itself, and like so many other families, bills are high and money is tight. Not only will he need to take the time away from work, losing income, but there are so many expenses involved with this entire process. We will need to make several trips back and forth to SF for pre-op appointments, and the length of stay in the hospital will be anywhere from 4 to 7 days. He will be caring for our other children nearby so that I can be next to Hailee at all times. They will need to prepare for accommodations and meals, gas for the trips, etc. This is all so scary and stressful, and I just want to do everything I can think of to lift some of this stress off of him so we can focus on getting Hailee the help she needs.
