Help Haika Finish Family Home Damaged in Floods
Donation protected
To all,
My name is Alice Lisle-Denny. This is a joint fundraising page with Julie Munro for an old friend and also IVHQ Tanzania 'House Mama', Haika Wilison.
You may remember her for her caring nature and for making your experience in the IVHQ Tanzania old volunteer house truly special and feel supported in a foreign country.
She is still living in Tanzania, and has grown her family to three boys.

The previous fundraiser was for her to complete her studies in Kampala International University, Kenya. However, this was delayed due to a presidential election.
During this time, Haika decided that as her family was growing, perhaps going back to university was not best option and she needed a source of income that could be more flexible with family life.
We instead put the money raised to her doing a bakery and pastry course, which she started to making consistent income up until Covid, where I personally supported her where I could.
You may remember that in 2014, within 6 months of Haika having her first child, she sadly lost both her parents and in 2019, her family members gathered to decide how her parents assets should be split, which has been in dispute as it is culturally frowned upon for women to inherit property.
It was decided however, that Haika should inherit land and was give a property on Kiserian Moshono Road, which is outside of Arusha town. The land has an incomplete house, as her brother who was building the house ceased construction in protest to the decision.
The house has sat there incomplete until now, however the extreme flooding that is occurring in Tanzania has damage some of the unrestrained walls.
Haika and her family are currently taking refuge in a local church during the flooding, but are keen to finish the home and move in next year.
The cost to finish the house is 2500$ USD (3800AUD), which includes rebuilding the damaged wall, finishing the roofing, the toilet , installing doors and windows, a water system and finally electricity.
I have put in the full target for building the house, however I am planning to send Haika directly smaller amounts once raised so that construction can continue.
I will attempting my longest distance I have ever run; 70km on the 20th April in an effort to raise funds.
Julie Will dedicate one triathlon competition to this fundraising during the 2024 season.
Please donate and help Haika to finish her family home.
If you want to get in contact with her please see her Facebook: Haika Wilison.
Thank you.
