Help Hafsa, a Black queer artist, attain stable, safe housing after 2 years of instability.
My name is Hafsa, and I am an artist moving back to Chicago from Minneapolis. I have struggled with unsafe, unstable housing for the last two years. I lost my job and home and was forced to leave Chicago during September 2023. I went from having my own apartment to living in an extremely abusive and narcissistic environment. After my dad passed away in August 2024, I was forced to move out of his apartment and back in with family members I do not get along with and that are unsafe, homophobic, and transphobic. The unsafe antics and behavior have been escalating after I went no contact a few weeks ago. I have been threatened to get illegally evicted before I move to my temporary spots on June 15th. I need to raise a nice chunk of coin because my move has been moved up a month earlier. This money would provide me with safety and, most importantly, stability.
This GoFundMe is not only to support me with rent and bills but also for support beyond. I would love help to get my happy life back. I have been living in fear and hiding the reality of living with my biggest enemy and abuser. I want a life where I am not constantly on edge, scared of explosive outbursts.
The good news is I have a job and many freelance art gigs to hold me down after I move to Chicago. I just need help getting back on my feet, and then after that, I can take care of myself.
