Help Needed. My sister-in-law Haejean has been in the hospital since Halloween. The doctors still don't know what's wrong or how to fix it. She went into urgent care on Halloween because she was having trouble breathing and feeling weak; they quickly sent her to the hospital. They ran test after test, and the doctors were stumped. The main problem is her lactic acid levels are through the roof. They admitted her to the ICU. Since then, she has been transferred to another hospital to see a specialist. They have done a ton more tests, now including a bone marrow biopsy. They won't know the results of that for a few days yet. All in all, they still don't know what is causing these high levels and how to get them down. She has been on bicarbonate to try and keep it at bay, which was working, sort of, until today when they went back up and she is having trouble breathing again.
The reason I am asking for your help is she obviously can't work right now. She only has a short amount of PTO. Her work has had to take her off the schedule until January due to not knowing when she can even return. Her husband, my brother, has had to continue working due to the fact that bills still need to be paid. So he hasn't even been able to take much-needed time off to be with her. I am sure you can imagine what kind of stress this does, knowing you have bills to pay but needing to focus on just getting better, which she can't even do until they figure out what's wrong and how to fix it. If you are able to help, please do, or at least share so maybe someone else can help. Every little bit helps, even sharing with others. This is something that could happen to any of us. Not being able to work and make money to pay bills shouldn't be the main concern at the moment; she should be able to focus on getting well. Life can really be so hard; let's make it just a little easier for them while going through this incredibly difficult time. Thanks.
UPDATE: 11/8/2025
Unfortunately its been confirmed, Haejean has a very rare type of Blood Cancer. They are starting her on high does steroids to try and combat the acidity of her blood. Next will be to start chemo while in the hospital. She will stay in the hospital for a few more weeks while they start that. Eventually she will go home and continue treating which will include 3x a week at 5 hours each time. There is also talk of maybe a stem cell transplant at some point. Needless to say this is a long road they have ahead. She also will not be able to work, due to the fact that she cant be around people due to infection risk. So now more then ever they need your help. Again trying to pay bills on only one income is almost impossible on top of the fact that Anthony then can't be there with her. So let's all help in any way possible. Thanks.
Update 11/13/2025
All the doctors from multiple hospitals around the country have confirmed that Haejean has NK-TCELL lymphoma/Leukemia. She had her first round of chemo yesterday. Again she still has a very long road ahead. So if you can help, please do. The shares and donations are much appreciated.
