Help Hadlie's Family with Medical Bills
Donation protected
My name is Tara. My Niece was hospitalized June 5, 2024.
It all started on June 2, 2024. It was unlike most others. Hadlie, 6 yrs old, my niece, was in a little bit of pain, but what kid doesn't have aches and pains every now and then? The next day my little Miss Hadlie was unable to walk and had a lot more pain. The next day, the pain hadn't eased up and only worsened. Her parents, Jeff and Meagan Shaw, were perplexed and very worried as we all were. Hadlie was scared she wouldn't be able to attend her kindergarten graduation or her ballet recital.
On June 5, 2024, the trio went to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis. The doctors determined that Hadlie had Pyogenic Arthritis in her hip, which is a fancy way of saying she had somehow developed excess fluid in her hip. The doctors aspirated (sucked out)the fluid and was taken by ambulance to Randall's Children Hospital in Portland.
After 4 days at Randall's came with an orthoscopy to remove the remaining fluid, a hip joint sprayed with antibiotics and physical therapy. The parents were as confused as the doctors as to how any of this happened. The doctors were able to determine that she was suffering due to a staph infection, but no one knew how she got it. It's a rare occurrence, but is more common in kids and the elderly.
If Hadlie hadn't gotten treatment when she did, she could have had permanent damage to her hip joint, defects, and deformities as she grew. She wouldn't be able to walk well, limitations in mobility, or worse, death.
Hadlie left Randall's Children's Hospital after the aforementioned 4 days. She was back to her bouncing and twirling self dancing her way out of the doors.
Hadlie made it to her kindergarten graduation and her ballet recital as if nothing had happened. Usually this situation requires 2-3 weeks in the hospital on an IV, but Miss Hadlie rocked it back to a fraction of that time.
Unfortunately, this is one of those instances were the pain lingers, though not with Hadlie. Jeff and Meagan have worked so hard to give their 3 kids a well rounded and incredibly fun life. But, over the years, medical bills have added up. Between the birth of 2 of their kids, Jeff's numerous knee surgeries, back surgery, and now this. Dollars aren't made of elastic as much as we'd like.
We ask that you please donate to help the family that we all love to move past this. The money that is collected will go strictly to the medical bills. This of payees is the surgeons, therapists, the hospitals, ambulance, anesthesiologists, and all the lab work that needed done.
If you can't afford to help financially, they could use your prayers for them to get through this.
