Help Hadeel & Her Family Re-build Their Life
Raising funds on behalf of Hadeel & her family. listen to her story:
"My name is Hadeel, I'm 20 years old, and in my life, I have lived through four wars. On my 20th birthday, a milestone so important in all girls’ lives, I lived the worst year of my life during this war. My family and I, just like you, innocent civilians trying to make a decent living in this life. One day while we were all home, IDF soldiers invaded our house without a warning. They killed my dad in front of us and they were about to shoot my younger brother. My eldest brother got in front of him and took the shot in his neck. He dropped dead at the scene. The IDF then during the horrific scene asked for our ID’s and asked us to leave our house. We have been displaced more than three times during the war. In the first month, we sought refuge in Al-Quds Hospital, but we were forced to leave the hospital after it went under IDF attack. We had two options: either go South or go to live with one of my relatives in the Eastern suburbs in Gaza. We couldn't afford the rent for the car to go South, so we went to one of our relatives in the second month. We were cut off from the basic necessities of life (water, food, and electricity). During the ceasefire, we went to retrieve our winter clothes, remaining supplies and food from our house. However, we found that our ancestral home, which had been devastated 30 years ago due to my father's misfortunes, was reduced to rubble (it had been demolished). We were once again deprived of my father's source of income, as he supports nine people, most of whom are university students. At the beginning of the third month of the war, there was a ground invasion of the area we had taken refuge in, and the entire area was evacuated. So, we headed to the house of our relatives who had gone South of the region. At that time, we managed to contact them and obtain permission to occupy their partially damaged house.
Currently, we are facing the everyday challenge of searching for food due to the lack of aid entering Gaza City. After a few days, the occupation allowed aid to enter border-controlled areas, so my older brother went to get food (flour) and they shot him in his left shoulder. We couldn't provide proper treatment for him. My middle brother was helping patients at Al-Maqassed Hospital because he works in the medical sector. My younger brother had to borrow money to work and open a small shop to support our family of nine.
I'm writing to you on the 134th day of the war, and the war on Gaza has not ended, and humanitarian aid has not entered. After the war ends, the house owner will return, and we will be left without shelter, without work, and without a university. Where will we go then? I hope my message reaches anyone who can help."
