I am Hadeel, writing on behalf of myself and my family, my husband Mahmoud Badwan and our two angels, Adam and Raseel. Since 2019 we have owned a law firm and legal consultancy office. In 2021, inspired by our work with organisations supporting women’s rights, we began offering free legal advisory services to help women.
We both finished our law degrees at Al Azhar University in Gaza and started our lives from zero. We built a home in Jabalia, and welcomed our first daughter, Raseel. I worked hard as a full time lawyer, deriving my strength from my love of being a mother. Life was challenging but fulfilling. My dedication to my profession and family and deep care for women’s issues was unwavering, and our future seemed bright. My dream was to become a known lawyer whom women could confidently turn to whenever they need assistance.
Despite the hardships of the past two years, I continued volunteering as a lawyer, dedicating my time to helping women who had lost their husbands, fathers, or children. I spent my days in refugee camps—actual camps filled with tents and families displaced from all over Gaza. I also participated in educational initiatives for children who no longer had access to school due to ongoing attacks. I dream of helping women globally and aspire to become a trustworthy lawyer who can give hope to women in dire situations like the one I am enduring.
But since the recent events began, our lives have turned into a daily struggle for survival. Securing basic needs such as food, medicine, and rent has become almost impossible, and skyrocketing prices have only increased our suffering.
Raseel, our daughter, was excited to start school and make new friends, but today she lives in fear and anxiety, unable to play or learn like other children her age around the world. Our son, Adam, who was only two months old when the events began, has endured multiple forced displacements and has known nothing but instability and fear in his short life.
We never imagined our lives in Gaza could become this terrifying, with no permanent home or workplace. Each day is a struggle to find enough to eat, and each night is filled with fear and sleeplessness.
We humbly ask for your support, not just for our family, but for anyone who believes in the right of children to safety and comfort, and for those who care about the right of Palestinians to live a dignified life. Any contribution you make will help us provide a stable environment for our children, meet their basic needs, and give them the sense of security they deserve.
With your support, we can restore hope and stability to our family and continue our dream of helping women and supporting our community despite all the challenges.
Join us today and be part of bringing safety and hope back to our family in Gaza.
