Hi, I’m Severiano De Almeida and I am fundraising for Habiba Ebrahim De Almeida, my mother.
Habiba is a very strong woman. She’s a grandmother of one, a mother of 2 and a wife of nearly 30years to her Husband Kevin.
Almost 6 years ago, Habs life turned around as her health drastically deteriorated. She was hospitalized 3 times in the space of 2 years fighting pneumonia and other illnesses. By the grace of God she recovered, but not completely as she still battled with severe pain in her back and legs for many years. She partially lost her mobility and struggles to walk and can barely climb stairs.
In April this year she enjoyed a beautiful 3 month holiday with her husbands family in Holland. Unfortunately towards the end of her trip, she suffered a fall which resulted in her having even more severe pain in her legs.
On her return to Zimbabwe, just over a week ago, she attended an appointment with Dr E. Collins at Borrowdale Trauma Centre in Harare, Zimbabwe. After succumbing to several X-rays, scans and blood tests, the doctor came to the conclusion that Habs had several lesions on her pelvis and kidney disease. This would be the reason as to why she’s suffered so much pain in the past couple of years. They prescribed her special medication to relieve the pain as Habs is allergic to codeine.
She returned back to her home in Mutare and continued to suffer the excruciating pain. The medicine she was given was not working. This resulted in her being admitted into Murambi Hospital. Her sister Nafiza, neice Farhaana and nephew Kiran are there to see to her needs and give her support as her children reside in England. She was given morphine and continued to do more X-rays. The doctors have now found a fracture in her hip bone and they need to operate on it. This operation would entail placing screws on the fracture to ensure it heals correctly.
Due to the occurring bills at the hospital and the cost of the surgery. We kindly ask you to come together and help her have a successful surgery and post surgery physiotherapy to regain her mobility and relieve the pain that she has been enduring.
The cost of the surgery alone is USD$2850, the hospital fees are going to be +or-USD$3000, the X-rays and CT scans come up to about $500. As well as she has to receive blood during the operation, have blood tests done, a bone tissue test for cancer and X-rays done post-op.
