Help Gwyn and Jonathan Through Tough Times
Donation protected
I'm Gwyn, a disabled artist. Back in November, right after the election, my husband Jonathan was laid off. Immediately thereafter, our beloved cat Commodore SpyBoy Captain of the SS Tinyman had a major health crisis. That cost us our small savings, and then some. (SpyGuy is doing okay now... he had pancreatitis and now has diabetes, which involves lots of recurring expenses and frequent vet visits, but he's frisky and happy and back to his old self.)
With the economy crashing and so much uncertainty, the job market has been... less than ideal. Jonathan has had a couple of interviews, but we're now finishing up month six with no income. We're hurting.
I have EDS, chronic pain, and a compromised immune system, so I can't work. Neither of us has been able to leave the house since the start of Covid, since even a cold can make me ill for months at a time, or result in hospitalization. We lost our insurance when Jonathan was laid off, which means we have to be even more careful.
We have food stamps now, which helps a lot, but that doesn't cover medications or all of the things which don't qualify as food. I've been denied disability and other assistance, as the government feels I'm not disabled 'enough'.
Jonathan has been taking certification courses to learn new skills, and hopefully that will result in a job soon.
In the meantime, we are doing everything in our power to try to make it through. We need help just to get through the next months until a job comes along.
If you can, please help us. We just need a hand to keep us from drowning until our luck turns and we can get back on our feet.
