For over 42 years, Gwen and Greg have built a life centered on faith, family, and serving others. At 70 years old, they should be enjoying their retirement, making memories, and spoiling the six grandchildren who mean absolutely everything to them. Instead, they are facing the unimaginable—having to start over and rebuild their lives after losing their home to devastating flood damage.
My parents, Gwen and Greg, have always worked tirelessly to provide for our family. Greg spent over 50 years working hard to be an incredible husband, father, and provider. Because of his dedication and sacrifice, his wife, children, and grandchildren never went without anything they needed. Gwen also worked for many years, but over the last 20 years she has devoted herself to being the very best “Mawmaw” God could have blessed our family with. Being with her grandchildren has been the greatest joy of her life, and together, Gwen and Greg have poured endless love, time, and support into all six of them.
They are a devoted Christian family who have always put others before themselves. If someone needed help, they were there. If someone was hungry, they made sure they were fed. If someone was struggling, they found a way to help—even when they didn’t have much to give themselves. Their lives have been a testament to generosity, kindness, and faith.
Recently, their home was severely damaged by a flood. Unfortunately, they did not have flood insurance, and the cost of rebuilding is far beyond what they can afford. After spending a lifetime working hard and doing everything they could for others, they are now faced with the heartbreaking reality of having to purchase and rebuild a home at 70 years old. This is something no family ever expects to face during what should be their retirement years.
The funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward helping Gwen and Greg rebuild their home, replace what was lost, and restore the stability they’ve worked so hard to achieve. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference and help ease the burden they are carrying during this incredibly difficult time.
We understand that times are hard, and we know there are many families facing struggles of their own. If you are unable to give financially, we completely understand. We simply ask that you please share this fundraiser with others and, most importantly, pray for our family. We believe there is incredible power in prayer, and we know that God is faithful even in life’s darkest moments.
Above all, we are thankful that no lives were lost and no one was seriously injured. Homes and belongings can be replaced, but people cannot. We continue to trust in God’s plan and are grateful for His protection throughout this tragedy.
Our hearts also go out to all of the families and friends throughout the Big Cane and Plaucheville communities who were affected by this devastating flood. Please keep them in your prayers as well.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness, your generosity, your prayers, and for helping our family walk through this difficult season. Every share, every donation, and every prayer means more than words can express.
