Our only car broke down, and with it, our only income.
My fiancée Gwen is a delivery driver, but our Jeep needs a part that’s backordered for 6–8 months. Without a car, she can’t work, and we can’t keep up with bills.
We’re raising $4,000 to lease a reliable electric car so Gwen can get back to work within the next 4 weeks. Every donation—big or small—helps us stay afloat. ❤️
Gwen and I have been together for 9 years, engaged for the past year and a half. Gwen works as a delivery driver in our college town—a job that usually pays well, especially during the busy fall semester when students return. Unfortunately, the timing couldn’t be worse: our “new-to-us” Jeep broke down just as the semester was starting, and the repair part is on backorder for 6–8 months due to a recall.
That means Gwen can’t work, and without her car, we have no income.
Over the past year, we’ve already been scraping by. I lost my job 12 months ago, and while Gwen stepped up, her job pays about a third of what mine did. We’ve been able to just cover the basics—utilities, car payments, pet food and groceries—but nothing extra. We also have three rescue dogs who came into our lives right before I lost my job (plus my kitties), so keeping them fed and cared for is part of what keeps us pushing forward.
This Jeep was supposed to bring us stability after Gwen’s Subaru suffered sudden engine failure at only 78,000 miles. The Jeep itself only has 36,000 miles, but the power transfer unit failed, and now it’s sitting useless while we continue to make payments on it. Gwen seems to have the worst luck with cars, and now we’re at a breaking point.
Our goal: $4,000 for the required down-payment
We need to raise $4,000 to lease a reliable electric vehicle so Gwen can get back to work. An EV makes the most sense for us because:
Gas prices are high, but electricity is affordable here. We can charge at home and keep costs low.
A lease means reliability—we won’t face constant breakdowns. It will be a 2025 EV that we will only have for two years. We really should not have to worry about repairs for once. Plus we aren't trying to own another car, this is temporary.
EV leases have a $7,500 incentive at dealerships right now making them the most affordable.
With Gwen back on the road, we can stay on top of bills and avoid falling behind with all the late penalties and credit card fees that will pile up.
We only have about 4 weeks before our situation worsens. Missing out on this fall semester work is devastating financially, and we’re trying everything we can to keep our heads above water.
We know times are tough for everyone, and asking for help is not easy. But every donation, big or small, will make a direct difference in keeping us stable and getting Gwen back to work. Even $10 or $20 helps us get closer to driving again.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for reading, sharing, and supporting us. ❤️
