Make Sonny Smile from Heaven

Our story:
Sonny and Gwen moved to Key Largo in 2016 to fulfill their dream and open up a water sports business. Shortly after Tropic Water Sports was born and it was thriving! The reviews said it all. Sonny and Gwen were living their dream, while letting others live their vacation dream. Then along came hurricane Irma in 2017 and completely uprooted the business. The only thing left standing was Sonny, Gwen and a few jet skis. Sonny actually stayed on the island despite the mandatory evacuation order just so that he could protect the jet skis because that’s how much he loved his work. Due to the destruction of the hurricane, Sonny had to take out a FEMA loan to rebuild their business. The “hooch” was finally built into the masterpiece that Sonny and Gwen wanted and they were reopen for business! Things were finally going great again and they were starting to pay back that loan... then COVID hit and the business and life took a huge hit. The island was shut down and customers were non existent. Sonny and Gwen’s only income was at a halt just like many other Americans. Finally things were starting to slow down, and the spread of COVID was under control enough that they were able to reopen to the public. Tragically after things were running smooth again on September 20, Sonny died while doing what he loved most. He was on the water and tragically did not return to the “hooch” despite everyone’s best effort. Sonny left behind his best friend and partner in life Gwen and his overweight service dog Jacque. Unfortunately Sonny did not have life insurance when he passed. Due to Gwen’s physical disability she is not able to run Tropic Water Sports on her own. Therefore Gwen has taken on the business loan debt and personal debt from all of the hard times they have had thrown at them lately all by herself. If you’re a fan or a customer of Tropic Water Sports you know how far they went out of their way to make sure your “play at Tropic Water Sports” was the best experience you could have. They need our help! Sonny was so loved by everyone and  the last thing he would want is to leave Gwen behind with stress and struggle. Especially a financial struggle. Even a few dollars goes a long way! If you are unable to donate, please add Gwen and Jacque to your prayers. They need all the prayers they can get right now. Let’s give back to Sonny and celebrate him by helping his loved ones that would give absolutely everything in this world to have his amazing self back.

The donated money will be used for rent, cell phone bills, insurance and other necessities while Gwen navigates the first few months of life without Sonny and the income of Tropic Water Sports

As Sonny would say “ No worries, it’s all good”... let’s make sure of that!!

If you want to see the ways Sonny and Gwen changed peoples lives through Tropic Water Sports I encourage you to do so!
